Our story

Hi, I'm Melony.

Creativity runs in my family, grandparents, parents, all of us. But it's my mom I owe the most to. She painted nature scenes in oils, trees, mountains, water, grass, and she had such an eye for design. She always nurtured my creative side. She never once tried to put out my light, she let me be exactly who I was, and she taught me that being different was a good thing. That kind of freedom shapes a person, and it's a huge part of why I am who I am today.

My grandmother sewed too, she lost her own mom when she was only 9, and had to teach herself to sew just to keep her younger siblings clothed. Years later she made me teddy bears, and I still remember watching her hand-stitch their little faces. My dad's always been the same way as my mom, painting, building, fixing, always making something with his hands.

I guess that's where I get it from. I run Melony's Sewing Spot on the side, sewing, personalizing shirts, socks, key chains, coasters, little custom things, whenever someone needs something made. I've always loved taking a pattern and turning it into something real.

That's really what Fun Color Club is. I'm not trying to teach kids to be artists, I just want them to have a place where making something feels good and easy, not like a chore, the same freedom my mom gave me. Watching my own son light up over a wiggly line he drew all by himself, that's the whole reason I started this.
